Hydropower

AquaBiota can in many ways support the work of hydropower companies through scientific support in describing the impact of activities on the natural environment. This may include, for example, studies describing species composition and ecological status (according to the Water Framework Directive) above and below dams and other migration barriers, estimating the effects of a proposed fish bypass, monitoring effects on biodiversity and ecological status. In our inventories, we often use eDNA, which is a good method for mapping and monitoring biodiversity. We can also provide support for producing environmental impact assessment (EIAs), setting up monitoring programs or environmental audits.
