Marine Spatial Planning (MSP)

AquaBiota is specialized in developing decision support for marine management, particularly for coastal and marine planning. This includes, among other things, to produce maps showing the distribution of aquatic species and habitats as well as mapping of human activities and their effects on the environment. We use these data to describe and map conservation values and ecosystem services, and in decision tools for marine spatial planning, such as Marxan with Zones. Such analyses are conducted in close cooperation with relevant authorities and in consultation with stakeholders. This is a concrete part of spatial planning, in which we have good expertise to assist municipalities and other planning authorities.  We also participate in consultation meetings, planning, counselling, etc.
