PhD Marine Ecotoxicology
Johan works with research and development projects as well as applied ecology projects. He defended his doctoral thesis at the Department of Systems Ecology at Stockholm University in 2010. His thesis focused on experimental and genetical studies on linkages between biological diversity and ecosystem functions in the Baltic Sea. Johan has previously worked at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency with national environmental monitoring as well as management and policy making regarding invasive alien species. He has a wide experience of working with EU-legislation regarding protection of the aquatic environment. He currently works with environmental DNA (eDNA), spatial modelling in GIS and issues related to the Swedish implementation of the EU Marine Strategy Framework directive. He also has experience from international research aid projects regarding environmental effects of aquaculture in Vietnam and genetical mapping of microbial diversity in South Africa.
