About the Company

AquaBiota Water Research (AquaBiota) is a non-profit subsidiary of the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA). The company was established on 1 August 2006 and is a part of the NIVA group along with Akvaplan-NIVA, Aqua NIVA-tech, BallastTech-NIVA and NIVA Chile.

AquaBiota is non-profit in the sense that any surplus is re-invested in the company's business operations, such as equipment or self-funded research. AquaBiota is based in Stockholm.

Like the parent company NIVA, AquaBiota's business operations are associated with water issues. The company works with both basic research and applied projects within biology and oceanography.

Our applied projects relate predominantly to the environment or concern mapping of marine species or natural resources. See under Research and Services and Projects for sample projects.
